Betty Peterson, 95, of Granite Falls, passed away at the Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville, Florida, on January 19, 2021. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 29th at 2:00 pm at Bergen Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls for Betty Peterson.
Betty Marie Peterson was born March 22, 1925, the daughter of Ernest & Beth (Fulton) Kennel in Campbell, Minnesota. She was confirmed at the Western Presbyterian Church in Fergus Falls. Betty attended District 252 Country School until 8th grade and went on to graduate from the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris in 1942.
On January 31, 1946 Betty was united in marriage to Eldon Peterson at the West Presbyterian Church in Fergus Falls. They enjoyed 65 years together. To this union four children were born. They lived in Fergus Falls for a short time before making their home in Stony Run Township. Betty was a housewife and was an Avon Representative for many years. She was a member of the Bergen Lutheran Church where she served on the church library board, Homemakers club, and WELCA. She loved books and sewing, handwork, and quilting. She also enjoyed sitting outside in the Florida sun. Upon her death a ray of sunshine come through the window and shone on her face. God does amazing miracles each day.
Betty is survived by her children: Duane Peterson of Watkins, Dianne (Daniel) Klein of Willmar, Denise (Brent) Severson of Niceville, Florida; daughter-in-law Kathy ‘Tonka’ Peterson of Granite Falls, grandchildren: Nathan (Amie) Peterson, Tad (Krista) Peterson, Jonathan (Julie) Peterson, Michael (Lacey) Klein, Matthew (Ashley) Klein, Nicholas (Amanda) Severson, Rachel (Dustin) Brenton, Darcy Seikmann, step grandchildren Jeremy (Amanda) Grinager and Joshua (Molly) Grinager; 16 great grandchildren; and 6 foster great grandchildren; Brother James (Karen) Kennel. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest & Beth; husband Eldon; son David Peterson, daughter-in-law Kathy (Duane) Peterson and Sister Mary Ann Benson.
