Betty Jane Klysen died peacefully on January 29th in West Fargo, ND at the age of 68.
Betty Klysen was born February 14th, 1949 in Mason City, Iowa. Betty grew up in her family home located in Twin Lakes, MN and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1967. She went on to graduate from Nursing College. Betty met the love of her life and married John in 1970. Over 47 years of marriage, the couple had three children. Betty will always be remembered for her just do it attitude, never giving up, and strong Catholic faith.
Betty worked in the Chippewa County Hospital and later worked at Logic (Micro Dynamics), as a Team Leader. She retired in June 2017 from Logic after 35 years of service.
Betty’s loves were spending time with her family, gardening, traveling and crafting. She enjoyed spending time on her deck drinking coffee with John and looking at her flowers. Betty and John were avid travelers and had traveled to every state but 3. Hawaii & Alaska were a few of their favorite adventures. One of the ways Betty and John liked to spend a sunny afternoon together was to take a cruise around Monte or up around the lake in one of their classic cars. Betty was an avid and passionate flower gardener. She enjoyed spending her days tending to her award-winning gladiolus and irises. Betty had a very generous heart and donated hundreds of handmade mittens to different charities. Her mittens are cherished by her children, grandchildren, friends and anyone who received them.
Betty is survived by her best friend and husband John. Betty was loved and cherished by her children Jim (Lisa) of Albertville, Tom (Stacy) of Montevideo and Sandra (Paul) Vigen of Horace, ND. She was loved by her grandchildren Brittany, John, Ryan, McKayla & Maddie. Betty is survived by her siblings Lynn (Sister) Johnson of Nome, AK, Jean (Dick) Herfindahl of Albert Lea, and Ronald (Linda) Johnson of Eagan. Betty is preceded in death by her parents Shirley and Orville Johnson, Twin Lakes, MN.
A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday February 6th, at 11:00am St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Montevideo, MN, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Betty's life. Burial will be at a later date in Fargo, ND.
