Barbara Jane Johnson was born December 9, 1942 in Granite Falls, Minnesota. She passed away Tuesday May 11, 2010 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital.Barbara was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at the United Church of Christ in Granite Falls, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school in Granite Falls and graduated with the class of 1960. She went on and received her formal training at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis to become a Laboratory Technician.On September 15, 1962 Barbara was united in marriage to Lee Johnson at the United Church of Christ in Granite Falls. To this union two daughters were born. Barbara and Lee were able to share in 47 years of marriage. The couple lived in Seattle, Washington for a year before moving back to Granite Falls to make their home. Barb worked at the clinic in Granite Falls as a Lab and x-ray tech. She later worked in the family business making crafts and framing pictures at the Knot Hole Gallery in Granite Falls.She was a lifetime member of the United Church of Christ serving on several boards, acting as financial secretary and singing in the choir.Barbara enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, bowling and was a member of the Granite Falls golf course. She was an avid bridge player and especially loved watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events. In her free time she would knit stocking hats to send to our troops serving in Iraq, and recently working for the last three years as manager of the Riverview Apartments. Barbara is survived by her husband, Lee Johnson, of Granite Falls; daughters: Stacy (Alan) Skjefte of Eden Prairie and Janelle (Stanley) Kompelien of Granite Falls; grandchildren: Lucas and Anthony Skjefte, Shelby and Mollie Nielsen, and Tanner Kompelien; sister: Deanna (Russell) Klint of Benson, Minnesota.She was preceded in death by her parents.
