Barbara Ann Dalen was born August 1, 1934 in Montevideo, the daughter of SeRoy and Ella (Olson) Johnson. She passed away September 16, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Barb was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. She grew up and attended school in the Milan area, graduating from Milan High School.
On November 30, 1952 she was united in marriage to Ernest Dalen at Kviteseid Lutheran Church. For nearly 60 years, they remained devoted to one another before Ernie’s passing in July 2012. Their union was blessed with three children.
Barb was a loving mother and devoted wife caring for the home and the children. Later in life, when the kids were older, she worked at the Milan Standard Newspaper. After several years, she went back to school and graduated as a licensed beautician from Willmar Vo-Tech, worked with her sister, Ione and later out of her home.
In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and playing golf. Barb was a member of the Milan Legion Ladies Auxiliary, WELCA, and sewing and homemakers clubs.
Cherishing her memory are her children: Paulette and Bill Haff of Montevideo, Keith and Julie Dalen of Milan, and Beth Dalen of Milan; grandchildren: Kelly Sweno, Kyle Dalen, Amanda Dalen, Lisa and Bill Holker, and Michael Haff; great grandchildren: Kara and Emily Farrand, and Ryan and Layna Dalen, sisters: Yvonne and Dean Thompson of Montevideo and Rosella Douglas of White Bear Lake; sisters-in-law: Carol Nelson of Morris and Olive Dalen of Appleton; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding Barb were Ernie, her husband of nearly 60 years, her parents SeRoy and Ella Johnson; siblings: Ione Lanes and Lyle Johnson; grandchildren: Andrew, Daniel and Lindsey Haff.
