Audrey Jahn, 87, of Montevideo, passed away quietly on Friday, August 2, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. Audrey is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Vernon Jahn, 11 children: Teresa Kinman, Patricia Cassell, Andrea Randello, Judith Jahn, Pamela Jones, Peggy Doukas, Jeffrey Jahn, L. Steven Jahn, Elizabeth Jahn, Joseph Jahn and Jacqueline Peacock, in addition to her 4 sons-in-law, 3 daughters-in-law, 30 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Audrey was an accomplished businesswoman, who at different times in her life was responsible for managing a credit bureau, a medical practice, a construction company and always her husband's plumbing company, all while taking care of her home and 11 children. She was a also member of the Milan Club and the Credit Women International. In the late 50's Audrey and her one true love, Vernon, known to most as Beany, moved from Montevideo to Southern California. In the early 60's they moved again to Northern California, where they lived and raised their family for over 30 years. In the 80's Audrey and Beany returned to Montevideo in the spring and summer months and then eventually, returned full time to Minnesota in the 1990's to run their farm and watch the birds at Carlton Lake. Audrey was a strong woman, with integrity and honor and was as truthful as the day was long. You could depend on her to "tell it like it is," as she would often say. Audrey was also as caring, gentle and generous as any one person could be. She was always willing to help out those in need, whether it was family or a complete stranger, even when she had very little to give. Audrey Herdis Jahn was born July 24, 1926, the daughter of Andrew & Hilda (Nordby) Blom, in Milan. She was baptized and confirmed at Kviteseid Lutheran Church and converted to Catholicism in 1946. Audrey graduated from the Milan High School, attended the University of Minnesota and eventually earned a business degree, while working and raising her family. Audrey was united in marriage to Vernon Jahn on December 31, 1946, in Montevideo. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Harold Blom and three sisters: Adelaide Olsen, Gladys Twitchel and Iva Sachariason.
