Arlin Opdahl

July 31, 1936 — October 22, 2012

Arlin Eugene Opdahl was born July 31, 1936, in Werner, North Dakota, the son of Arnold & Edna (Thorstad) Opdahl. He was baptized at Wang Lutheran Church in Dunn County, North Dakota. When he was ten years old his family moved to Minnesota. He was confirmed at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Arlin attended school in Hanley Falls, Montevideo and graduated from the Granite Falls High School in 1954. Arlin was united in marriage to Gail Sederstrom on June 22, 1957, in Montevideo. He worked for the city of Granite Falls and Aakre's Grocery Store for a short time before attending St. Olaf Banking School. He started his career at the Granite Falls Bank in February of 1957, retiring in January of 1997. Arlin was active with the Granite Falls Lutheran Church, horseshoe league, fast pitch softball league, where he was a catcher, bowling, golf, Tuesday morning men's bible study and the Jaycees. Arlin passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012, at the Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. He was 76 years of age. He is survived by his wife Gail, three sons: Steven (Pat) of Redwood Falls; Timothy (Rebecca) of Granite Falls; Craig (Sharol) of Granite Falls; grandchildren: Timothy, Ryan, Sara, Joshua, Olivia, Jillian, Grace (Corri Zieske), & Jordan; great granddaughter Nevaeh Zieske; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father-in-law.
