Arlin Jibben, age 89, of Alexandria and formerly of Montevideo, Minnesota, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025 at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo, Minnesota. Interment will be at Swede Home Lutheran Cemetery in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Visitation will be Monday, April 7, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo and will continue Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arlin Ervin Jibben was born on November, 27, 1935 to Ervin and Lillian (Hennings) Jibben in a rural home north of Gary, South Dakota. Arlin was the second oldest in a family of seven boys; with his father being a musician, the family moved frequently usually staying between South Dakota and Minnesota. When Arlin was ten years old, the family moved to a farm near Revillo, South Dakota and Arlin attended District #42 school which was 1.5 miles into South Dakota. He later graduated from High School in Marietta, Minnesota. He furthered his education by attending college at South Dakota State in Brookings.

After college, Arlin joined the U.S. National Guard and upon completion of training he began teaching junior high math. He later began employment for Production Credit in Wisconsin and Montevideo, which is where he met LaVilla Anderson. The couple was married on December 15, 1962 at Swede Home Lutheran Church in Clarkfield, Minnesota. They made their home in Montevideo until the summer of 1965 when they moved to Minneapolis and he began working for Supersweet Feeds. They later moved back to Montevideo in 1969 where Arlin worked at First National Bank for 31 years.

Arlin and LaVilla were blessed with three children, Michael, Gary and Kimberly. They were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church and then at Trinity Lutheran Church. Arlin was active in the local Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Luther Haven Board of Directors, Kiwanis and Happy’s Landing Association.

Arlin enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping and watching high school sports, especially if his grandchildren were playing. He loved spending time on Lobster Lake with family and friends.

Arlin is survived by his wife, LaVilla Jibben of Alexandria; children, Michael Jibben of Alexandria, Gary Jibben of San Diego, CA, Kim Jibben of Montevideo; grandchildren, Terry (Cassandra), Nick, Brandi (Cason), Jonny, Joey, Jenna (Matt), Matt (Whitney), Derrick (Tarin), Kelsey (Justin), Sheyenne (Chance), Kortni (Josh), Skyler (Joe), Kiana (Kyle), Lindsey; great grandchildren, Nova, Lennon, Bellamy, Savannah, Isaac, Trenton, Paisley, Emma, Lily, Jace, Carson, Klayton, Josephine, Kinsley, Eliana, Aria, Kyra, Braelyn, Ryker, Alaynah, Kayden, Beau, Aspen, Elsie, JayCee, Lakelynn, Joey, Asher; great, great grandson, Knox; brothers, Jack (Luanna) Jibben of Alexandria, Richard (Diane) Jibben of Battle Lake, David (Susan) Jibben of Curtis, NE; brother-in-law, Larry (Jeannine) Anderson of Isanti; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Arlin is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Lillian; father and mother-in-law, Oscar and Elsie Anderson; granddaughter, Marissa Jibben; brothers, Orvis, Jim, Gene; brothers-in-law, Ray and Darryl.
