Arlene Tollefson, 98, of Granite Falls, passed away on Sunday, August 29th at Luther Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3rd at 2 pm at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home Chapel in Granite Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday.
Arlene Violet Tollefson was born on May 22, 1923, in Eidsvold Township, Minneota, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from the Minneota High School. Following high school, she worked at the dry cleaners in Minneota.
In 1951, Arlene and her girlfriend went to Granite Falls where Arlene got a job as Clerk of Courts for Yellow Medicine County, where she worked for 42 years. Here she met Lester Tollefson and they were married on March 22, 1952. Lester passed away in February of 1996. Arlene moved to Montevideo in 2005 and became a resident of Luther Haven Care Center in January of 2013.
Arlene enjoyed going to the casino with her sister-in-law Jan, and would only play the nickel machines. She enjoyed game shows and going for car rides, where she would always point out the clouds. She was very witty with a good sense of humor. She could always bring a smile to your face and was loved by many.
Arlene passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Luther Haven Care Center in Montevideo. She was 98 years of age.
She is survived by sisters-in-law: Marie Hovland and Jan Hovland; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester; sisters: Sallie, Verna and Lila; brothers: Lester, Norman, Alvin, Milo, Dudley, Darrell, Donovan and Earl.
