Arlene Hanson

June 26, 1927 — June 12, 2011

Arlene Hanson was born on June 26, 1927, the daughter of John and Hattie (Reinke) Youngren in Granite Falls. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Arlene attended and graduated from the Granite Falls High School in 1945.On November 30, 1947, Arlene was united in marriage to Leonard Hanson in Granite Falls. To this union five children were born. Together they farmed north of Granite Falls and lived on Arlene's family farm, which has been in her family for many generations. Arlene and Leonard enjoyed traveling, camping, visiting with friends, playing cards and dice. She loved to spend time with her family and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arlene was a homemaker and enjoyed her gardening, canning, crocheting, embroidery, reading books and going out to eat with friends.In the early morning hours of June 10, 2011, Arlene passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence. She was 83 years, 11 months, 10 days of age.She is survived by her children: Richard (Debbie) Hanson of Milan; Judy (Jerry) Wangsness of Glenwood; Joyce (Gene) Iverson of Granite Falls; Charlene (Tom) Brettin of Granite Falls and Cheryl (David) Christensen of Granite Falls; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard in 2006, and her brother Arthur "Shorty" Youngren.
