Arleen Eleanor Zempel was born on November 24, 1927, in Montevideo, Chippewa County, Minnesota to John and Alma (Brust) Lange. Arleen attended country school in Montevideo and after graduating high school, took a job in the cities and found that she enjoy the country and moved back. It was then that she met Floyd Zempel and they were married on June 2, 1951 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Montevideo and were blessed with three children, Lenn, Marsha and Wanda.
Arleen worked as a seamstress at Barwicks Manufacturing. Her hobbies included sewing, baking, candy making, knitting, crossword puzzles coloring. The thing that Arleen cherished most was spending time with her family.
Arleen is survived by son, Lenn (Diane) Zempel of Spirit Lake, IA; grandsons, James (Rachael) Zempel of Janesville, WI, John (Rochelle) Zempel of Mankato, MN; great grandson, Lou Zempel of Mankato, MN; daughter, Marsha (Calvin) Harms of Clara City, MN; granddaughter, Melissa (Craig) Grossman of Buffalo, MN; great grandson, Callin Grossman of Buffalo, MN; granddaughter, LaNae (Jay) Okins of Avon, MN; great grandchildren, Aiden Okins, Selah Okins of Avon, MN; granddaughter, Kristy (Arron) Enger of Clara City; great grandsons, Rhett Enger, Kincade Enger of Clara City, MN; daughter, Wanda Erickson of Mankato, MN; grandson, Joseph Erickson of Mankato, MN; great grandson, Noah Erickson of Mankato, MN; grandson, Christopher Erickson of Mankato, MN; as well as other relatives and friends.
Arleen is preceded in death by her parents, John and Alma Lange; husband, Floyd; eight brothers and sisters.
