Ardeth Delores Kvanli was born March 26, 1937, to Gehardt & Enola (Bergemann) Boettcher, in Waseca County, Minnesota. She passed away at the age of 79 on June 11, 2016 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital.

After her father’s early death, Ardeth moved to the Montevideo area when she was four years old. Her mother had been hired as the housekeeper for Ed Janke, whom she later married. Ardeth grew up on the Janke farm and graduated from the Montevideo Public School.

On January 1, 1956 she entered into marriage with Arlen Kvanli at St John’s-Sparta Lutheran Church of Montevideo. Ardeth and Arlen lived in the Montevideo area all of their married life. She enjoyed helping her husband farm. Ardeth worked in various local businesses such as Donahue’s Jewelry and Gary’s Red Owl. But her favorite job was working for many years as an aid in Myrna Racette’s kindergarten classroom at Sibley School.

They spent 25 winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, and she enjoyed going for rides in the desert and mountains. She loved to cook and bake. For many years she was known as the cookie lady in Apache Junction.

She is survived by her husband, Arlen, and their 5 children: one son, Lon (Heidi) Kvanli of Mitchell, SD; and four daughters: Bondell Rae of Ely, MN, Sandy (Marty) McKeown of Albertville MN, Cindy (Lane) Jorgensen of Sergeant Bluff, IA, and Julie (Mark) Malecek of Starbuck, MN. Ardeth is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren (she thought grandchildren were the greatest thing that ever happened). In addition, Ardeth is survived by two sisters - Betty (Charles) Ramsbacher of Nisswa, MN, and Donna (Jerry) Hanson of Richmond, MN; and a brother, Paul (Cheryl) Janke of Montevideo, MN. She will be missed by many friends across the United States and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of floral arrangements the family requests memorials to the St John's Lutheran Church Ladies Aid. A special note of appreciation to the compassinate and caring staff of Luther Haven Nursing Home for their tender care of Ardeth during her difficult times.
