Arden Hanson

Arden Hanson, age 97, of Montevideo, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Luther Haven in Montevideo. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo, Minnesota. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Arden Emmert Hanson was born December 23, 1926 in Montevideo, Minnesota, the son of Ole and Emma (Brusven) Hanson. He attended country school in Normania Township. Arden was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church also in Normania.
On November 7, 1953 Arden was united in marriage to JoAnn Norton. They purchased their first farm on Spellman Lake and started farming. In 1962, the couple purchased their “forever” farm south of Clarkfield. Arden was extremely hardworking and put all his energy into not only his farm but he ran his own custom corn shelling business and also hauled water, filling local cisterns.
In 1994, Arden and JoAnn moved into Montevideo. Though not living on the farm, his pride and joy was never far from Arden’s thoughts. He made many trips back to check on the crops and find out what was happening. He was a faithful member of Salem Lutheran Church.
When Arden wasn’t farming, he enjoyed fishing and boating at the cabin. In retirement, the couple would winter vacation in Lake Havasu City in Arizona. Arden was easy to talk to and enjoyed talking to those he met along the way
Arden is survived by his wife, JoAnn Hanson of Montevideo; sons, Arlen Hanson of Plymouth, Keith (fiancee, Cathy Nemitz) Hanson of Clarkfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ken (Lynn) Norton, Bill Norton, Sandy (Dan) Weckwerth; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arden is preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Emma Hanson; siblings, Alvin (Myrtle) Hanson, Harry (Jeanette) Hanson, Winfred (Judith) Hanson, Orland (Freida) Hanson, Manley (DeeDee) Hanson, Lloyd (Minnie) Hanson, Evelyn (Tony) Septon, Amy (Floyd) Christensen, Mary (Dan) Kruse; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob (Eleanor) Norton, Bruce (Evelyn) Norton, Maurice (Karen) Norton, Larry (Ginny) Norton, Betty Norton.
