Annie Bertha Warrings was born on March 21, 1916 to John and Bertha (Asche) Andresen. She grew up with her older sisters, Sarie and Jennie and her younger brother, Joest on the family farm near Clara City.
She attended Country School District #82 before moving to town with her family in the late 1930’s. Annie worked in a local grocery store for two years. During that time she met and married Clarence (Knute) Warrings. They purchased the Gambles Store in 1942 at the location formerly occupied by the Clara City Drug Store and Gift Shop.
In 1943, Annie and Knute moved their store across the street. The original building had been demolished and is currently the Prairie West Mutual Building. They settled into the last location for the Gamble Store at what is now the current NAPA store, selling the business in 1958.
Annie began a new career in 1959 working in the customer service department of the Variety Supply Company (VSC). She enjoyed her time working with friends and colleagues before retiring after 20 years of service at (VSC). Throughout her career, Annie was a devoted mother and dedicated her life caring for her daughter, Mary.
Since the mid 1990’s, Annie resided at Prairie Park Place, Senior Assisted Living and most recently the Clara City Care Center. She enjoyed arts and crafts, ceramics, sewing, baking and gardening. Annie also enjoyed traveling, going to Green Lake and the annual family trip with Knute and the kids.
Annie is survived by her son, Lee (Mary Kay) Warrings; daughter, Nell Riccatone (special friend Gary Hoover); grandchildren: Dana (Dan) Trujillo and Brian (Kirsten) Riccatone; great-grandchildren: Daya Trujillo and Ashley Riccatone and great grandson Skye Riccatone; and several nieces and nephews.
