Anne Smith, age 50, of Montevideo, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Anne Alea Smith was born on July 6, 1973 to Daniel and Jean (Moen) Hocum in Granite Falls, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. Anne grew up in Canby and graduated from Canby High School.
On November 21, 1992, Anne married Gene Smith at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Maynard and were blessed with four children, Gena, Beth, Jason, and Jacob. They lived in Maynard for some time before moving to Montevideo 10 years ago.
Anne worked a few jobs including being a housekeeper at the casino in Granite Falls, but her true profession was being a stay-at-home mom. Anne did everything for her children and was always helping them with projects or volunteering at their schools. She also volunteered with the Maynard Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping with Bible School.
Anne was a genuine, kindhearted, and caring person. She loved anything crafty and was especially good at sewing and embroidery. She also enjoyed decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween, Christmas, and Easter, and tending to her garden.
Anne is deeply missed by her husband, Gene Smith of Montevideo; children, Gena Smith of Montevideo, Beth Smith of Granite Falls, Jason Smith of Montevideo, Jacob Smith of Montevideo and parents, Dan and Jean Hocum of Canby. She is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Sissie Smith.
