Andres Alvin Andresen was born on April 22, 1924, on the family farm. He is the son of Tade and Dorothea (Brouwer) Andresen. Andy was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church and grew up and went to country school near Clara City. On September 27, 1944, he was united in marriage to Grace Abbas. This marriage was blessed with 7 children. The couple farmed for 44 years in Stoneham Township with Andy also working at Tebben’s Manufacturing. Andy and Grace continued to live on the family farm until they moved to their new home in Clara City in June of 2002. Grace passed away on June 4th, 2003. Andy loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren and extended family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and games of any kind, horseshoes, going to basketball games, shaking dice, and visiting with everyone. He loved driving his little blue Ford Ranger pickup. After his move to town, he could be seen riding around on his bicycle and last year moved up to his blue golf cart. Andy was a true farmer and was a great steward of the land. He was a very upbeat man – a true lover of life – a man that everyone loved - thus his nickname of “Sonny”. Andy was a lifetime member of the Bethany Reformed Church and has been involved with the Senior Citizens Program since moving to town. For the past 10 years, he has enjoyed the company of a special friend, Eileen Denton from Atwater. Andy was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday afternoon, March 18th, 2015, at the age of 90 years. He is survived by his seven children. 2 sons; Alvin (Martha) Andresen of Sherman, Mississippi, David (Molly) Andresen of Lake City, South Dakota; 5 daughters; Diane Davis of Bolivar, Ohio, Barbara Koenen of Maynard, Debra Andresen of Clara City, Julie (Kelly) Aalfs of Montevideo, Dawn (Brian) Heiling of Eden Prairie; 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; sister Katie Asche of Clara City and sister-in-law Marian Andresen of Clara City. Preceding him in death were his parents, Tade & Dorothea, wife Grace, brother Egbert, sister Sarah Wearda and 4 grandsons, Richard and Raymond Andresen, Darryl Scott Plueddemann and William Robert Koenen.
