Amanda Pauline McNeil was born on March 20, 1917, in Maynard, MN, the daughter of John F. and Clara A.Tyvold. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Maynard Lutheran Church and grew up in the Maynard area. She graduated from high school in Maynard in 1934. On July 2, 1938, Amanda was united in marriage to Earle McNeil in Watertown, SD. They lived in Havelock Township for 44 years where Earle farmed and then managed the Chippewa County ASCS office. Earle passed away in 1987 and Amanda continued to live on the farm until moving to Prairie Park Place in Clara City in October of 2005. She became a resident of the Clara City Care Center in April of 2012. Amanda was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Montevideo, MN. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She enjoyed making wonderful meals for her family during special gatherings & the holiday season. These included lutefisk, meatballs and gravy, (for those whose taste didnÂ?t favor the lutefisk), fresh baked buns, lefse and a variety of other dishes. In her younger years, she enjoyed snowmobiling, assisting Earle with his horse in parades and fishing. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, baking and playing bingo. Of course, her greatest joy was to be in their company and visit with her family and friends. Amanda began her journey from this life to be with her Lord in the early morning hours of Friday April 19, 2013, while a resident of the Clara City Care Center. She was 96 years of age. She is survived by her children- Susan (& Roger) Sweep of Clara City, Sally (& Dennis) Hayunga of Prior Lake, Steven (& Eileen) McNeil of DeGraff, Sandra McNeil of Plymouth, and David (& Vicky) McNeil of Maynard; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; (she was especially proud of that); nieces, nephews and extended family.
