Alvin "Bud" Raddatz was born October 22, 1930, in Redwood Falls, the son of Hugo & Cora Raddatz. Bud was baptized on November 9, 1930, in Redwood Falls. He attended school at the Redwood Country School through the fourth grade. His family moved to Wood Lake in January of 1940, where he continued his education at the Wood Lake Public School. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Bud served his country in the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1954. He returned to Wood Lake and worked as an electrician until 1956. Bud was united in marriage to Darlys Schulz on April 30, 1960. Together they ran a dairy operation in rural Wood Lake.Bud was a member of the American Legion Post #556 in Wood Lake, the Lions Club and spent 17 years as the Wood Lake Township Supervisor. He enjoyed woodworking, growing geraniums, watching his grandchildren in sports, gardening and traveling to Branson.Bud passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009, at the Granite Falls Hospital. He was 79 years of age.He is survived by his wife Darlys; three sons: Jeff (Angie) of Bailey, Michigan; Gary (Linda) and Brad (Robin) all of Wood Lake; daughter Becky (Todd) Omtvedt of Alexandria; eight grandchildren: Leah (Joshua) Krohn of Racine, Wisconsin; Ben (Katie) Raddatz of Ripon, Wisconsin; Teela Omtvedt (fiancé Ben Johnson) of Alexandria; Natasha Omtvedt of Waterloo, Iowa; Dylan Omtvedt of Alexandria; Reed Raddatz; Britanna Raddatz; Loretta Raddatz all of Wood Lake; brother, Silas Raddatz of Wood Lake; sister, Shirley Mancini of Hibbing; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters-in-law Faith Raddatz and Hazel Raddatz; brother-in-law Bob Mancini; nephew Bruce Raddatz and grandson Adam Omtvedt.
