Alvin Arneson

Alvin J. Arneson was born on July 12, 1926, in Eldred, MN, the son of Arnie and Josie (Gordon) Arneson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Sand Hill Lutheran Church in Climax, MN and attended school in Eldred, MN. Alvin served his country during WWII in the Merchant Marines from 1941 ? 1945, receiving an honorable discharge. He was united in marriage to Marion M. Huot on October 6, 1947 in Dorothy, MN. Alvin owned a service station in Eldred, MN for several years and moved to Granite Falls in 1960. He owned and operated A. J. Arneson Wholesale Beverage Company until his retirement in 1978. He also was in business with his son, Allen in Sleepy Eye, MN for 10 years. Alvin was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed playing cards with his friends, spending time with his family and in his later years, loved to go for rides in the country. Alvin was called from this life in the loving presence of his family at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital on Monday evening, February 4, 2008. He was 81 years of age. He is survived by his wife- Marion of Granite Falls, MN; his children- Allen (& RaeAnn) Arneson of Sleepy Eye, MN, Cheryl (& Frank) Homme of Granite Falls, MN and Lana Edman also of Granite Falls, MN; grandchildren- Sarah (& Michael) Sullivan of Madison, WI, Rachel (& Charles) Serna of Montevideo, MN, Deana (& Jeremy) LeBlanc of Granite Falls, MN and Joseph Homme of Marshall, MN, Ann Marie (& Leon) Steffl of Sleepy Eye, MN, Toby (& Jodi) Arneson of Sleepy Eye, MN, Ted Arneson of Carlsbad, CA; great grandchildren- Adam Alexa. A.J., & Brooke, all of Sleepy Eye, MN, Tristen, Natalie, Emily, & Kennedi all of Granite Falls, MN; many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother- Marlow; a son- Dean; twin grandchildren- Leland & Leah; son-in-law, Butch Edman and a sister-in-law, Jackie Arneson.
