Allan Meints, 85, of Clara City, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Clara City Care Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12th at 10:30 am at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Monday.
Allan Richard Meints was born June 14, 1938, the son of Claus and Symka (Tebben) Meints, in Clara City. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Allan graduated from the Clara City High School in June of 1957. Following high school he started working as a carpenter.
Allan served his country in the United States Navy. On February 6, 1959, he began his military career, where he served as a crew member of the USS Bennington as an armament mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1966. Allan returned to Clara City where he began working as a handyman and later was a custodian at the Clara City Care Center.
Allan enjoyed meeting his friends at the Café for afternoon coffee. He was also a member of the American Legion for over 50 years.
Allan passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Clara City Care Center. He was 85 years of age.
He is survived by two sisters-in-law: Wanita Meints of Olivia and Doris Lampert of Ellendale and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Orville, Clifton and Kenny and a sister-in-law Idell Meints.
