Alice Charlotte Paulson

March 23, 1920 — June 28, 2014

Alice Paulson, wife of Arnold (Red) Paulson and long time resident of Granite Falls, MN died of cancer at the Granite Falls Manor Saturday, June 28. She was born in Montevideo, MN, the daughter of Alma and Louis Lofthus and grew up in Madison, MN, where she graduated from Madison High School and studied secretarial work at Mankato Commercial College. While working in Granite Falls, she met Arnold (Red) Paulson. They were married on Feb. 15, 1942 and had four children: David (Deephaven, MN), Dr. Connie Carson, (Littleton, CO), Roger (Deceased 1984), and Mark Paulson, (West Orange, NJ).

When Alice was in her early 40's, she began working as a nurse's aide at the Granite Falls Manor until she retired in her late 60's. During her tenure at the Manor, Alice began conducting Bible studies and continued faithfully, every week, until just a few weeks before her death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for decades. Alice was active in the community also: she managed the fund raising for the American Cancer Society, was a strong proponent of the Kilowatt Community Center, and worked to preserve the K.K. Berge building. In 2012, she was selected as the Outstanding Volunteer in Yellow Medicine County and received recognition at both the Yellow Medicine County Fair and the Minnesota State Fair.

Alice took missionary trips to Costa Rica to work with her nephew, Dale Vick and his family, while they were preparing for a Spanish speaking radio ministry. She also went to former British Honduras, to work with her sister and brother-in-law, Rosie and Windsor Vick, as they were pilot missionaries with Missionary Aviation Fellowship.
Alice had a profound love for everyone who came into her life. She eagerly shared her faith and her worldly possessions with those in need.

On July 11, 2014 there will be a memorial service at the Kilowatt Center from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. This celebration of life will be an opportunity for friends to enjoy coffee and pastries and share their thoughts about Alice.

On July, 12, 2014, at 10:00 AM there will be a Christian funeral service at the First Baptist Church, in Granite Falls. Everyone who knew Alice is welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, Alice has asked that memorial gifts, in her honor, be designated to the Kilowatt Center in Granite Falls, and/or the First Baptist Church of Granite Falls.
