Alfrieda Linna Jacobson was born on January 6, 1929 in Big Stone City, South Dakota the daughter of Carl and Lydia (Mueller) Freiwald. She passed away on August 13, 2016.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran church, growing up and attending elementary and high school in Big Stone Coty graduating in 1946. Alfrieda attended Concordia College in Moorhead graduating in in 1950 with a degree in Home Economics. She worked as the County Extension Agent in Yellow Medicine County for several years.
On August 22, 1953 Alfrieda married LeRoy Jacobson in Big Stone City. Following their move to Granite Falls, Alfrieda taught Home Economics in Wood Lake and Granite Falls for 30 years retiring in 1984.
Alfrieda was a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church, active in WELCA and the church library board. She was also a member of the Dinner at Your Door board and a volunteer at the Red Cross Bloodmobile. Alfrieda served as an election judge for the city of Granite Falls and a jury attendant for YMC District court.
LeRoy and Alfrieda enjoyed traveling and visited many areas in the United States and abroad.
Alfrieda is survived by her sister Hilda McGill and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy, her parents Carl and Lydia Freiwald, brother: Carl Freiwald, sister: Mildred Freiwald and a nephew Leonard Freiwald.
