Agnes Mary Martin was born December 23, 1915, in Cornlea, Nebraska the daughter of Joseph and Mary Bender. She passed away January 15, 2010 at the Care Center in Clara City, Minnesota.Agnes grew up and attended country school in the rural Cornlea area. She worked for a time in the Jasper, Minnesota area before moving back to Nebraska.On January 6, 1941 she was united in marriage to William Martin at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay, Nebraska. To this union seven children were born. The family moved to Minnesota in 1946 and began farming in Asbury. Agnes was a loving wife and a caring mother and took care of the house and family all those years. Her love of kids found her babysitting for many of the children in their neighborhood. Agnes enjoyed cooking, gardening, and quilting. During her years in Asbury she was an active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Granite Falls where she was active with the Altar and Rosary Society. After they retired and moved to Clara City, she was also in the Mission Circle while a member of St. Clara Catholic Church. Agnes is survived by her children: Rita (Felix) Thissen of Clara City, Donald Martin of Clara City, Raymond (Marge) Martin of Granite Falls, Angela Lock of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Joe Martin of Sacred Heart, Arlene (Robert) Stager of Clara City, 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William in 1981, daughter Mary on January 3, 2010, granddaughter Shelly, grandson Terry Joe in infancy, great granddaughter Samantha in infancy, son-in-law Carl Lock and daughter-in-law Linda Martin; brothers: Francis, Edwin, and Andrew Bender; and sister Angela De Clercq.
