Adolph Martins

July 7, 1918 — November 16, 2008

Adolph Arthur Martins was born July 7, 1918, the son of Fred & Anna (Ziehl) Martins, in Lone Tree Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota. He was baptized on August 18, 1918 at the Church of St. Clara. He received his formal education at the Chippewa County District 40 School. He was confirmed on March 17, 1940, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Adolph served his country in the United States Army during World War II as an auto mechanic in Italy. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945. Adolph was united in marriage to Agnes Reiners on November 20, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. He built homes in Clara City and the surrounding area for many years. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Adolph passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2008, at the St. Therese Nursing Home in New Hope. He was 90 years of age. He is survived by his son Rodney (Charlotte) of Maple Grove; three grandsons: Joel (Elaine) of Hudson, Wisconsin; Thomas of Crystal and Gregory of Maple Grove; three great grandchildren: Ana, Sam & Ben; one brother Leo Martins of Guyton, Georgia; and extended family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in 2000.
