Adeline Henrietta Torke was born March 21, 1920, the daughter of Arthur N. and Selma Anderson, in Marshall, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. Adeline attended school in the Hanley Falls Public Schools, graduating in 1939. On September 28, 1941, Adeline was united in marriage to Bennett Torke at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church Parsonage. They lived with Bennett's brother, Kenneth and his wife, for the first six months of their marriage. They then moved to their own farm site north of Wood Lake. Together they raised their family and farmed until the fall of 1998, at which time they moved to the Granite Ridge. In the fall of 2004, Adeline moved to the Granite Falls Manor where she made her home until the time of her death. To Adeline, family was very important. She was a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and baking with lots of love and lots of butter. The grandchildren could always find their favorite chocolate chip cookies in the freezer. She was active with the Ladies Aide and Circle at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church and her homemaker's group. Sunday's were very special for Adeline and Bennett. A day to rest, worship and spend time with family. In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the Granite Falls Hospital while in the loving presence of her family, Adeline was called from this life to be with her Lord.
