Adeline Rosemond Steffens was born on September 25, 1922, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Raymond and Pearl (Christenson) Essendrup. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and as a young girl moved with her family to DeGraff and then to the Raymond area where she was raised and attended country school. Following her schooling, she worked as a housekeeper in that area.
On September 23, 1946, Adeline was united in marriage to Lammert Steffens at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. She farmed with Lammert in the Clara City area until 1967 when they moved into town. Lammert passed away in 2005.
Adeline was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She and Lammert volunteered their time for many church activities, including service on the Altar Guild for communion preparation. She also enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking, canning, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was a caring, generous woman who deeply loved her children and will be remembered as a giving person with a heart of gold.
Adeline had most recently been residing at the Scandia House in Isle in order to be closer to her daughter, Lanette. On Monday, May 18, 2015, Adeline was taken to the Mille Lacs Health Care System Hospital in Onamia where she died at the age of 92 years.
Surviving family include her children- Wayne (& Jackie) Steffens of Annandale, Lanette (& Tom) Wolf of Isle, and David Steffens of Minnetonka; grandchildren- Gayle Donahue and Jason Wolf (& Britt Vonderohe); great grandchildren- Tyler Donahue, Adam Donahue, Meghan Donahue and Roman Wolf; brothers- Ervin (& Alice) Essendrup and Ray (& Eileen) Essendrup; sisters- Dorothy (& Robert) Fransen, Lorraine Bohlsen, Verna (& Richard) Aeikens, Bonita Hanson, Arlene Beers and Colleen Newland; sister-in-law Margaret Essendrup and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Preceding Adeline in death were her parents; her husband; 3 brothers- Marlin, Gerald and James and grandchildren- Kevin and Kay Wolf.
