Milton was born on August 11, 1926, on a farm in Cerro Gordo Township, the son of Martin and Anne (Greseth) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from the Madison High School in 1943. Milton served his country in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in August of 1946.
He was united in marriage to Lorrayne Boehnke on September 5, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham. They farmed in the Bellingham area and then owned a gas station in Watertown, South Dakota. They moved to Minnesota where they owned a grocery store in Clarkfield. In 1959 they moved to Montevideo, where Milton was a Driver’s License Examiner. Milton went on to serve as Clerk of Courts and retired as the Court Administrator for the 8th Judicial District. He was a member of the Montevideo American Legion for 71 years, Masons and Salem Lutheran Church.
Milton and Lorrayne loved to travel, visiting China, New Zealand, Norway and Germany. They spent several winters at Victoria Palms in Donna, Texas. He enjoyed working on remodeling projects but his true passion was flying and his grandchildren.
Milton passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Luther Haven Nursing Home. He was 90 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Lorrayne; children: Richard (MaryLou) Johnson of Brighton, Colorado; Terry (Susan Thomas) of New Brighton and Janelle (Dan) Joneson of Spicer; six grandsons: Ryan (Lindsy) Johnson of Erie, Colorado; Blayne (Diane) Johnson of Aurora, Colorado; Nick (Nicole) Johnson of Fridley; Tom (Angela Kahn) of St. Paul; Andy (Angie) Joneson of Duluth and Aaran (Mindy) Joneson of Fargo, North Dakota; four great grandchildren: Clara, Nelly, Trace Johnson and Kim-Xuyen Joneson; brother Jim (Kathi) Johnson of Houston, Texas and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Helen, Myrtle and Alice, brother Julian and an infant grandson.
