Marjorie Mary Donahue was born November 5, 1939 in Wanda, Minnesota, the daughter of LaVerne and Margaret (Kavanaugh) Gorres. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mathias Catholic Church. Marjorie attended school at St. Anne’s Catholic school in Wanda and graduated in 1958.
On April 11, 1959, Marjorie was united in marriage to John Donahue in Wanda, Minnesota. The couple lived in several towns in Southwestern Minnesota while raising their family. They finally settled in Montevideo, Minnesota where they spent the next 57 years. Together they were blessed with seven children, Colleen, Richard, Patrick, Jeffrey, LouAnn, Charlene, and Brian.
Marjorie raised her own children while also doing daycare, and working as a foster parent. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she taught religious education classes and was an active member of the CCW.
Marjorie enjoyed writing poetry, embroidering, playing cards and board games, and baking. She also enjoyed the many bus tours that she and John took together. There are many “Marjorie” humorous stories that the family cherish and enjoy retelling, bringing many smiles and much laughter. Perhaps the most enjoyment Marjorie received was spending time with family and friends.
Marjorie passed away peacefully on August 15, 2022 at Copper Glen in Montevideo. She was strong and fought until the very end. Her strong faith brought her through many difficult challenges. Blessed be Marjorie.
