John Tebben

John C. Tebben was born on February 7, 1922 in Rheiderland Township in Chippewa County, Minnesota. He attended country school at Chippewa County District #70 and then began farming with his father.John married Jennie Poppen on March 15, 1950 at the Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. They were blessed with four daughters and spent 35 years farming together east of Clara City. In 1985, they retired and moved to their home in Clara City. His interests included music, visiting with neighbors and friends, taking long walks, traveling as a family and with bus tours, gardening, taking rides to look at the crops, and quietly helping others. John so enjoyed the beauty found in God's creation. He was a faithful family man. John was married to Jennie for over 58 years and was very supportive of and interested in his children's and grandchildren's activities. He was always ready to take the time to play a board game with the grandchildren and he made sure the candy jar was always full. John was a lifelong member of the Bethany Reformed Church and served one term as a deacon and two as an elder. He died on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the age of 86 as a result of a car/train crash near Maynard. Cherishing his memory are his wife, Jennie; daughters Ardis (and Tim) Skoglund of Minnetonka, Betty (and Jerry) Boersma of Eagan, Carin (and Lee) Hagemeyer of Clara City, and Diane (and Paul) Bakker of Willmar; 11 grandchildren: Andrew (and Lacey), Arden, and Austin Skoglund, Jenika and Janae Boersma, John, Anna, Caylee and Connor Hagemeyer, and Tyler and James Bakker; 2 great grandchildren, Elliot and Jillian Skoglund; and sister Gladys Ammermann of Prinsburg.
