Jim Thoma, 87, of Willmar, formerly of Clara City, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 15th at 11:00 a.m. at St Clara Catholic Church in Clara City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Peter James Thoma Jr. was born August 20, 1936, the son of Peter and Inez (Weiland) Thoma just north of Gluek. He attended St. Clara Catholic School and graduated from Maynard High School in 1954. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.

Jim was united in marriage with Gloria Macziewski on April 4, 1959, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Montevideo. To this union three children were born: Debra, Kathryn and Kevin. He worked as a Standard Oil Agent and later founded Thoma Oil Company in Clara City. Jim worked 46 years in the petroleum industry. He was active with the Minnesota Petroleum Marketers Association and took great pride in the numerous roles he served in.

He was a member of the American Legion, 40 & 8 Club, Ducks Unlimited, Knights of Columbus and St. Anthony Society. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, spending time in Arizona and traveling. He had a special place in his heart for the farm and cherished time spent out there working.
Jim was united in marriage to Donna Vosika on August 31, 2013, in Spicer. They enjoyed ten years together.

Jim passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 87 years of age.

Jim is survived by his wife Donna of Willmar, children: Debra (Tom) Plumley of New London, Kathryn (Tom) Palke of Willmar and Kevin (Tracy) Thoma of Lino Lakes; grandchildren: Laure (Dan) Erickson, Bryan (special friend Rebecca) Kohman, Rachele (Nick) Brown, Zach (Allison) Plumley, Josiah (Emily) Plumley and Brittni (Brad) Hurtig; eight great grandchildren; Donna’s children: Debbie (Aaron) Ardoff, Linda (Doug) Dietz, Lisa (John Petron) Vosika, Susan (Scott) Westberg and Nancy Vosika; siblings Mary Thoma and Robert (Sally) Thoma all of Granite Falls; sister-in-law Pat (Bruce) Fried of Salem, Oregon; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria in 1987, brother Richard and grandson Joshua Palke.
