Diane Olson, 74, of Montevideo, passed away on Wednesday, January 12th at the University of Minnesota Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 17th at 2:00 pm at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Diane Carol Olson was born June 18, 1947, the daughter of Allen & Pearl (Mullins) Toftness, in Minneapolis. She was baptized at Calvary Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. The family moved to Bird Island and later to Montevideo. She graduated from the Montevideo High School in 1965. She continued her education at Concordia College.
She was united in marriage to Lyle Olson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. In January of 1975, Diane enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard and worked her way up to E-7. She then attended Warrant Officer School and retired after 29 years of service as CW-4 in 2004.
Diane loved being with her family and friends and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, sewing and quilting.
Diane is survived by her husband Lyle, children: Matthew (Allison) Olson of Maple Grove and Marcy (Steven) Brush of Sabin; grandchildren: Caleb (Meghan) Brush, Noah Brush, Madison Olson and Mason Olson; siblings: Dennis Toftness of Alexandria, Janet (Chip) Worsech of Montevideo and Nancy (Jim) Welch of Kimball, several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elizabeth Reinken and sister-in-law Connie Toftness.
